The Great Injustice

He saw what happened, the way he was betrayed and left behind
The nights he cried alone under the trees he was stuck with,
All the night creatures would come and see him, to hear the elegies he would moan.
Then one night he dried forever,
Scared all the creatures away in anger, in denial.
Forged himself a weapon and hunt them all,
Slaying away all his sorrow with a knife cut.
Then came the day he saw the boy, alone and lost,
Coy and naïve, and the hunter knew why.
So he pledge to himself he would protect the boy from the evil, still, he would remain silent, hiding in the shadows.
All to preserve the boy’s innocence from the truth.
After all, that was all he could do.
To protect the boy from the ghost of the past.
