The summer days gone by with the rain and the leaves,
All the bright sunshine in the puddles in the streets
And the kids filled with joy, that spend their time like it was the last days of their lives.
Splashing their dirty shoes on the water, forming rainbows in their minds,
Sailing across seas that only they could see beyond the horizon,
And that’s where I heard your voice, cheerful and kind,
It wasn’t as loud as the screams from the other kids, so I made an effort to hear,
To hear you calling my name and grabbing my hand, so we could cross the green hills and live the greatest adventure of all time.
I would go and protect you from the trolls and the sirens, from the giant and the wild horses, the poisonous snake women and the greedy pirates.
We would walk for days and miles, going through ghost villages and empires.
I dream of your coy smile and your eyes as shiny as the yellow sun, I dream of our never ending journeys, I dream with the water, the puddle, the sea.
To hear you sobbing when you hurt your knees.
I’m lost and I’m waiting for you to find me again, grab my hand and never let go, take me to foreign and dangerous lands, to live in the jungle, to sail along with the waves.
To carry you in my backs on the way back home, to leave you on your bed safe and sound. To tell you that everything is not lost, that tomorrow is a new day.
To tell you I’m also suffering, but we have to move on.
Life for you has just begun.
And I wish I was there more than anything. Cause another lost is not what you need.
If only I could find you in those summer days
I would never lose you again.
